16-Bit Central Processor Unit (CPU)

The part’s S12 CPU is a high-speed 16-bit processing unit that supports efficient arithmetic operation and high-speed math execution. It has an extensive set of indexed addressing capabilities, including:

  • Using the stack pointer as an indexing register in all indexed operations

  • Using the program counter as an indexing register in all but auto increment/decrement mode

  • Automatic index predecrement, preincrement, postdecrement, and postincrement (by -8 to +8)

 

On-Chip Flash with Error Correction Code (ECC)

The S9S12G128AMLHR features up to 240 KByte of program flash memory and up to 4 KByte EEPROM. Its program flash memory has 32 data bits and 7 syndrome ECC bits, which allow single-bit error correction and double fault detection. 

 

Port Integration Module (PIM)

For this component, the data registers and data direction registers for ports A, B, C, D, E, T, S, M, P, J, and AD when used as a general purpose I/O.

 

Main External Oscillator

This microcontroller has a loop-control Pierce oscillator that uses a 4 MHz to 16 MHz crystal. The oscillator pins can be shared with GPIO functionality, eliminating the need for an external current-limiting resistor.

 

Serial Communication Interface Module (SCI)

The S9S12G128AMLHR has up to three SCI modules with either a full-duplex or single-wire operation. The SCI is programmable for character length and polarity inthe transmitter and receiver.

 

Serial Peripheral Interface Module (SPI)

The microcontroller supports up to three SPI modules, configurable for 8- or 16-bit data sizes in master or slave modes. The modules also have a serial clock phase and polarity options.
